I saw a podiatrist in February and am still being treated. I had two cortisone shots since then and am wearing shoe inserts as recommended. I stretch my foot and calf often and use ice in the evening. I have seen a 50% improvement overall. I have been walking on a regular basis and it has no effect on my foot, good or bad. I walk only on flat surfaces also as recommended by my podiatrist.

Not getting any better

I will be making my doctor appointment this week to see what help they can offer.

Week Nine

No improvements as of late. I haven't been stretching as often and I need to get back on track. I've also been on my feet more because of the upcoming holidays. I'm not sure what will happen this week considering I will be on my feet cooking Thanksgiving dinner. Hopefully I will be alright with my foot taped and wearing my shoe inserts. I will take it easier on the weekend.

Wow! My foot is much better today. So I started thinking, what did I do yesterday? And the answer is, not much. I was on a road trip yesterday to visit relatives, which means I sat most of the day. I didn't use stairs hardly at all, and did very little walking. Yes, it really did help. I continued to tape my foot and do stretches this morning. We'll see what the week brings, but for now I am hopeful.

Week Eight

I might have re-injured my foot. It was feeling better, but I've taken a downturn this week. It's been hurting in the morning after getting out of bed and in the evenings. It only feels better after I tape it and put my shoes on with the inserts. I'm still doing the stretches and icing my foot at night. I need to take it easier, but it's difficult with the holidays coming, plus getting done the day to day things. I've heard that night splints have worked for some people, but I don't know if I could handle wearing something like that while trying to sleep.

I've been watching what I eat since I'm not getting any exercise, but I'm not losing any weight. At least I'm not gaining. I need to find some type of exercise that I can do without straining my foot.

The last two mornings I did stretches before getting out of bed. I also have been massaging the bottom of my foot. This has definitely helped with the morning pain. I want this to be over so I can get back to a normal life.

Week Seven

I am feeling better in the morning. While it still have some pain upon getting out of bed, it is milder. On a scale of 1 to 10, it had been an 8 and now it is a 6. I have been using the athletic tape every morning and remove it at night before bed. The tape gives me a lot of support throughout the day. I've been stretching my calves three times a day, and I've noticed that in the morning, it relieves some of the pain immediately.

I received the gel heel inserts that I ordered. I have been wearing them in the evening inside of a pair of casual shoes. I always wear my athletic shoes during the day. The other item I ordered is not what I thought it would be, but it might help anyway. Its a slip on support for the heel with a gel insert. The insert can be frozen to ice the heel. I will try it tonight rather than using an ice pack. I need to give it some time before I can see if these devices are helping.

I continue to limit the amount of time I spend on my feet, but it's difficult. There is so much to do, but I can't.
